Issue One ⚘ Gillespie Park, 2022
Uncommon Ground is an independent zine created and designed by Devon Jeffs, and edited by Frances Stewart. For Issue One, I contributed The Parkland Walk, which follows a former railway line north from Finsbury Park.
Along the route, I captured mushrooms clustered on fallen wood, hawthorn berries, rose hips, crab apples and the quiet meeting of woodland and city—trains passing beyond meadow grass and buildings glimpsed through the trees.
The photographs trace abundance at the turn of the season, as the last fruits of summer give way to autumn. Together, they invite slower attention to what grows, ripens and decays within London’s well-loved green spaces.
